Wardman Hotel OK for Ch. 11 Auction on Union objection

Law360 (June 9, 2021, 8:12 p.m. EDT) – A Delaware bankruptcy judge on Wednesday approved plans to put Washington’s Wardman Park hotel up for auction in July, overcoming fears of hotel unions that bidders do not have enough information about the contractual obligations they can assume.

In a virtual hearing, U.S. bankruptcy judge John Dorsey said there was no need to add wording to the bidding procedures order to address potential buyers’ obligations to buyers. Wardman unions, in particular because these obligations are being challenged before an arbitrator.

“I am not inclined to do anything that might disrupt what is going on in the refereeing,” he said.
